Confidentiality Policy
Your trust is my top priority.
The things people share in therapy are sensitive and deeply personal. Everything we discuss is strictly confidential. I will never reveal your identity or use your name in my written notes, not even in consultation with my supervisor. However, there are a few legal and ethical limits that are important for you to know. Information may be shared if:
-
-
There is credible risk of harm to yourself or others.
-
There is suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult.
-
A court orders the release of my records.
-
I promise that I will always let you know before disclosing any information so we can have a full and private conversation about what my responsibilities are. You deserve to be informed about the process without being caught off guard.
Records
Notes and client records are stored securely and are only accessible to the counsellor. Digital records are password protected, and physical records are kept in a secure location.
Communication
Emails, texts, and other electronic messages are reasonably secure, but cannot be guaranteed fully private. Please let me know if you would prefer alternative forms of communication.
If anything seems unclear, I’m happy to answer your questions. My goal is to provide a supportive space where you feel secure to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences, unedited.
You can talk to me.
